EIGHTH FESTIVAL: "MUSICA IN VILLA" - 2008
THE CONCERT
The principal objective of the Festival in 2008 was, as ever, to draw up a programme based on the intrinsic musical qualities of the performers and on the pieces played, without external influences or constraints.
By adopting s flexible approach, in contrast to most of the institutions organizing concerts in Italy, it was possible to allow plenty of scope for young musicians with exceptional musical talents, (and to avoid second-rank performers), well supported international people such as Maurizio Baglini, Enrico Bronzi, Ivan Rabaglia, Polina Leschenko, Leonard Elschenbroich (the latter two extremely young), the Mela-Micheli Duo, etc, all with several years of successful performances on the international stage behind them.
The focus of the Festival was the piano, solo or an chamber group.
Once again, the Festival signaled its expertise in bringing rare talent to Italy, anticipating current trends.
As in the past, the Festival was honoured and delighted by concerts which left unforgettable marks and memories, beyond all expectations.
In particular, by such musicians a Andrei Gugnin, Airapet Arakelian, and Daniil Trifonov.
If one concert remains particularly memorable, from every point of view, it was a expected that given by the Baglini-Lanieri Duo (unequalled in Italy for technical prowess, depth of interpretation, and perfect coordination); and also the String Quartet consisting of Ivan Rabaglia, Simonide Braconi, Enrico Bronzi and Gianpaolo Bandini. Other exceptional concerts were given by the pianist Olaf John Lanieri; the pianist Polina Leschenko with the very young cellist Leonard Elschenbroich; the Mondrian Trio, the Matteo Mela-Loenzo Micheli Duo. The specia events of the Festival, unexpected by some people although announced in advance were without doubt the concerts of the 17-years-old Russian pianist Daniiò Trionof and the pianist Andrei Gugnin (a revelation last year), as well a the young Airapet Arakelian, a true prince of the saxophone. It should be noted that a month later, Trifonov won the Republic of San Marino Piano Competition, winning also the 2008 Republic of San Marino Special Prize
